Bridging Technical and Business Cultures between Germany and Japan
A major Japanese OEM wanted to develop a long lasting business with a major systems company in Germany. The German company also had access to strong suppliers from Germany itself. Added to this were strong identities, work cultures and engineering teams on each side.
A clear map of capabilities was made, along with an assessment of the competitive landscape related to the German company. Based on this, a focused plan was developed and a meeting set up a trade show in the UK. TechRev was responsible for organizing an 4 hour off-site meeting, during which the market and technology drivers were mapped out, along with indications of the business impact on the German company. Translation from Japanese to English and vice versa, and help in bridging cultures were key in making the meeting productive.
This meeting resulted in an invitation to Germany, with additional technology and engineering questions, all handled by TechRev on the spot. Following on this meeting, a follow up meeting in Japan enabled a complete map of product requirements, from code to components, allowing the Japanese firm to develop a precise cost and schedule for delivery, and also manage risk areas efficiently.
